2024 Astrology Forecast

The Astrology of 2024 can be seen as a continuation in the development of chapters that were initiated over the last couple of years, and will continue to unfold over the coming few years.

The year 2023 ushered in major fresh change and 2024 is the next phase in that until we reach 2025 (and beyond) when the next major changes in the story occur. Thus, this upcoming year can be seen as an important pivotal year, like a bridge or threshold to cross between the two.

Generally, when assessing a yearly overview we are taking into consideration the trans-personal Planets first and foremost as their orbits are slower thus more monumental when they change Sign or aspect one another. These are the shifts that can be felt collectively.

They are:

  • SATURN: Stays in a Sign for roughly 2.5 years (and will be where it currently is in Pisces until 2025-2026), taking 29 years to complete a cycle. (To personalise this you would look to which House Pisces is in for you, for example if you are a Scorpio Rising, this may bring challenges in your love life or commitments to children etc.)

  • URANUS: Stays in a Sign for 7 years (and will be in Taurus until 2025), taking 84 years to complete a return.

  • NEPTUNE: Stays 12 years per Sign (and will be in Pisces also until 2025-2026), completing its orbit in 144 years.

  • PLUTO: Stays 15-30 years in a Sign (and is entering Aquarius in January 2024 for, almost, the final time for the next 20+ years) and takes 248 years to return to the same place.

  • Jupiter is also of note as a social Planet, it spends only 1 year per Sign but thus still takes 12 years to complete a cycle. It will be entering Gemini in May 2024.

Main Ingresses of 2024:

  • Jupiter entering Gemini on May 25th. Jupiter in Gemini is considered in detriment as it is the Sign opposite its domicile, Sagittarius. As the greater benefic, Jupiter in Gemini can make it harder to come by its usual sense of faith and optimism, getting stuck in the nitty-gritty details of Gemini’s facts and figures. As the Planet of growth and expansion, Jupiter in Gemini can also signify an increase in Geminian themes of communication, travel, and technology. Social media may get quite loud! It can also allow for greater learning, curiosity, experimentation, diversity, gender-fluidity, and self-expression.

  • Pluto reentering Aquarius on January 20th (and again on November 19th after a brief retrograde back into Capricorn from September 1st. Read more about this specific transformational transit here). Pluto entered Aquarius for the first time in March 2023 before retrograding back out in June.

The Astrology of 2024

In other news, after the ingresses (when a Planet enters a new Sign), we pay attention to the aspects they make to one another and the Eclipses, as well as if Venus or Mars are going retrograde as they do so less frequently (which Mars will this year).

The aspects are the degree of distance the Planets are visually at in the sky and depict an archetypal story between them. It starts at their meeting, the 0º conjunction in the same Sign. Then, they have a soft opening with the sextile, 60º apart, and their first crisis point in the story with a square at 90º. Then comes a hopeful collaboration between them with the trine at 120º before butting heads at 180º, the halfway point and peak of the story. They finish with a final soft sextile and closing chapter with the last 60º before they meet again and begin a new story.

Main 2024 Aspects:

  • Jupiter will be meeting Uranus on April 20th for the start of a new 14-year cycle, last meeting up in 2010. The last time they met in Taurus was in 1941. Jupiter can be seen to goad on Uranus’ electricity, excitement, destabilisation, and disruption. In Taurus, this can look like change and growth in themes relating to the land, economy, and food.

  • Jupiter will then be meeting Neptune for a harmonious sextile on May 23rd, in the next chapter of the story that was begun in April 2022 (meeting up every 13 years). This is a subtler transit but can allow us to access greater empathy, opportunities, hope, and creativity. In Taurus and Pisces, respectively, this can add a level of artistry, music, and design.

  • Jupiter will also trine Pluto on June 2nd for a supportive chapter of the story that was begun in April 2020 (occurring every 12 years), with the first crisis point occurring in May 2023. As April 2020 was a fateful time collectively, and Jupiter-Pluto conjunctions are often cited as aligning with war and pestilence (such as with the AIDS epidemic, Spanish influenza, and bubonic plague), we may see positive developments in this ongoing story.

  • Lastly, Jupiter will meet Saturn on August 19th (and again on December 24th 2024) for a stress-test in their story that began in December 2020, which also signalled the start of the 200-year Age of Air. Jupiter and Saturn meet up for a new cycle every 20 years or so but for 200 years it occurs in Zodiac Signs of the same triplicity (Fire, Earth, Air, or Water). The last 200-year meetups in Earth Signs reflected the tangible reality of capitalism and the industrial revolution (with a brief foray in the ‘80s). Now, we are moving more and more into the age of technology and the intangible. Things are rented rather than owned, cyberwarfare can be a realer threat than physical bombs, currency is digital rather than tangible gold.

With Pluto entering into Aquarius as well, it’s certainly no more business as usual!

Every year Mars will also contact Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, forming 2-year mini cycles which are also of note. These are:

  • Mars conjunct Pluto in Aquarius on February 18th, starting a new cycle relating to power dynamics and individuality vs collective health. The story will intensify around June 11th and their opening square, with the crux occurring on their November 3rd opposition.

  • Mars square Uranus on March 9th, a closing stress-test in their story that began in July 2023 (look back to what was occurring for you then, especially in the Signs/Houses). On July 15th they will be a new story with a bang.

  • Mars conjunct Saturn on April 10th for a new story that will develop on August 15th with their first crisis point. As opposing forces, the engine and breaks respectively, these periods can feel tense and like hard work.

  • Mars will also square Neptune on September 2nd, the closing stress-test in the story that was begun in May 2022 with chapters in October-November 2022, May 2023, August 2023, and December 2023. This can feel demoralising and deflating, confusing to action.

Mars will also retrograde this year, which occurs every 2 years, this time in Leo on December 6th through the new year until January 6th 2025. This may come with some performative flair and feel dramatic, temper your energy!

As always, Mercury will retrograde 3-4 times, this year occurring mostly in Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius).

2024 Eclipses:

Lastly, the Eclipses denote major change, endings, and new beginnings as well as general increases in themes relevant to the Zodiacal archetypes. This year the Nodes (points on the ecliptic- the apparent path of the Sun- where the orbit of the Moon intersects it) are still in the Aries-Libra axis, having entered here in July 2023 and staying until January 2025. Read more about this specific transit here.

We will also get our first taste of the Virgo-Pisces polarity with a Lunar Eclipse in Pisces in September. Although the Nodes will still be in Aries-Libra, this Full Moon will be occurring close enough to them to be visible as an Eclipse, thus acting like a sort of preview for what we can expect when the Nodes do move on in January.

A Lunar Eclipse in Pisces asks for a release in escapism, martyrdom, passivity, and victim mentality, as well as bringing up concepts of faith, spirituality, belief, and empathy. What is spiritual bypassing or the difference between sympathy and empathy, for example.
